The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Class 10 and 12 practical exams. These exams, including project work and internal assessments, will start on January 1, 2025, for all CBSE schools in India and abroad.

For winter-bound schools, practical exams are already in progress and will end by December 5, 2024. Regular session schools will hold their practical exams from January 1 to February 14, 2025. The theory exams will begin on February 15, 2025.

Guidelines for Schools and Students

CBSE has issued SOPs to ensure all schools follow the same procedures during the exams. Schools must stick to the schedule and upload marks accurately on the CBSE portal.

For private students, marks for practicals and internal assessments will be given based on CBSE’s Examination Bye-laws.

Exam Conduct

The board has stated that both internal and external examiners will supervise the practical exams. For Class 10, only internal examiners will be involved. For Class 12, CBSE will assign external examiners for certain subjects.

Managing the Practical Exams

Schools are asked to organize students into batches of 30 per subject. If there are more than 30 students, the exams should be held in two or three sessions per day. This will help ensure smooth and fair assessments.
