The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released guidelines to prevent unfair practices for Class 10 and 12 board exams, scheduled from February 15, 2025. Over 44 lakh students will appear for the board exams in 204 subjects, scheduled to begin from February 15 this year.
Students Following CBSE rules is essential to avoid penalties, including a two-year exam ban.
CBSE 2025: List of Permitted Items
For Regular students:

- School ID Card
For Private students:
- Admit Card
- Any photo identity proof issued by the Government
Stationary items:
- Transparent pouch
- Geometry/Pencil box
- Blue/Royal Blue ink/Ball point/Gel pen
- Scale
- Writing pad
- Eraser
Other items:
- Analogue watch
- Transparent water bottle
- Metro card
- Bus pass
- Money

- Any communication device
- Glasses
- Handbags
- Pouches

Spreading rumors affecting the exam | Cancellation of the current and next academic year's exams in all subjects. |
Possession of previous year’s question paper | Cancellation of the concerned exam. Eligible for compartment exams if otherwise qualified. |
Writing on materials other than the answer book | Cancellation of the concerned exam. Eligible for compartment exams if otherwise qualified. |
Tearing pages of answer book/supplementary book | Cancellation of the concerned exam. Eligible for compartment exams if otherwise qualified. |
Communication with others during the exam | Cancellation of the concerned exam. Eligible for compartment exams if otherwise qualified. |
Possessing copying materials without usage | Cancellation of the concerned exam. Eligible for compartment exams if otherwise qualified. |

Violence, abuse, or threats to exam staff | Cancellation of exams for the current and next academic year in all subjects. Allowed to reattempt exams afterward. |

Using obscene/threatening language in answer books | Counseling by the CBSE committee. Currency notes/bribes attached to answers are forfeited and deposited in the Board's account. |
Using bribes or influence for favoritism | Cancellation of exams for the current and next three academic years in all subjects. Allowed to reattempt exams afterward. |
Use of prohibited inks or pencils | Counseling by the CBSE committee. Currency notes/bribes attached to answers are forfeited and deposited in the Board's account. |
Regular students must wear school uniforms while private candidates must wear light coloured uniforms. All these improper acts must be supported by the report of the invigilator or investigating staff present at the time of the incident.
