The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important advisory to all affiliated schools for the 2025-26 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. It clearly states that student data must be error-free when submitting the List of Candidates (LOC). The board has also clarified that schools must responsibly verify and enter correct student details.

👉 Official Notice

The CBSE advisory states that the names of students, parents, and guardians must be spelled exactly as recorded in the school's admission and withdrawal registers. Dates of birth must also be written correctly, as per school records. Additionally, subject combinations must be in accordance with the CBSE curriculum, and subject codes must be entered correctly.

The board has warned that even minor data entry errors can cause significant difficulties for students during exams. Therefore, schools have been advised to exercise special caution when selecting question papers, particularly for Hindi, Urdu, Mathematics (Standard/Basic), and optional subjects, as errors are frequently encountered in these subjects.

The CBSE has also stated that if a student's data is found to be incorrect after submitting the LOC and the student has paid the examination fee, schools can correct the details without any additional fee. However, if additional fees are incurred due to the correction, the students will be responsible for that.

After the final submission, the Board will issue a data verification slip for each student, which schools will be required to carefully check and make the necessary corrections.

If any entries remain inaccurate, the CBSE has announced a special data verification drive from October 13th to October 27th. During this period, schools will be required to submit supporting documents, such as their admission and withdrawal registers. The Board has also clarified that no changes will be made to any student's details or subject combinations after the closure of this final correction window.

CBSE has urged schools to exercise extra caution when filling out LOCs, as errors can directly impact students' exam eligibility. This advisory follows a reminder issued on September 11, 2025, to avoid last-minute hassles for students and schools during board exams.

👉 Conclusion: This move by CBSE is in the best interest of students. Schools should carefully check all entries and submit LOCs on time with correct information. This will not only prevent errors but also ensure a smooth completion of the board exam process.
