CBSE Class 12 Revaluation Update 2026: Supreme Court Rejects Plea to Reopen Rechecking Portal
Class 12th CBSE students have been informed about an important decision concerning the verification and revaluation of answer sheets. The Supreme Court has rejected a petition to make CBSE reopen the portal for rechecking and revaluation of answers for those students who could not meet the previous deadline.
Those students who were having any doubts about the marks they had received from the board examinations had requested an additional chance to apply for revalidation and verification of the marks. But the court said that it was offered to the candidates by the CBSE at a certain time period.
Why Did Students Demand Reopening of the CBSE Revaluation Portal?
This was associated with the new system of On-Screen Marking (OSM) by CBSE. In this system, physical answer scripts are scanned first, and then they are assessed through a computer screen.
Students raised certain issues regarding this process, including the problem of missing scans, bad quality scans, and the fact that certain answers are not considered for assessment.
Petitioners also said that due to technical issues in the CBSE website, some students were not able to apply for the process of verification within the time schedule.
Based on these issues, students requested the Supreme Court to give permission to CBSE to reopen the revaluation portal for another one week.
What Did the Supreme Court Say?
The bench was composed of CJI Surya Kant who presided over the plea for reopening the CBSE revaluation portal.
Apart from CJI Surya Kant, other judges in the bench were Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana. It was pointed out by the bench that there was no need to reopen the system since the opportunity had been given to all the candidates by CBSE during the stipulated period.
It was observed by the court during the hearing that if one does not make use of an opportunity provided during a certain period of time, then the opportunity cannot be given a second chance thereafter.
Supreme Court has now turned down the plea for reopening the CBSE Class 12 revaluation and verification portal.
