CBSE Refunds Class 12 Re-Evaluation Fee on Marks Increase, Launches Helpline
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has provided significant relief to Class 12 students who are dissatisfied with their board examination results.
In an official notice, the Board stated that students applying for scanned copies of answer sheets, verification of marks, or re-evaluation will now be required to pay significantly lower fees compared to the previously prescribed rates.
Furthermore, the CBSE confirmed that if a student's marks increase after re-evaluation, the full amount of the re-evaluation fee will be refunded to them.
How Much Do Post-Result Services Cost Now?
CBSE has slashed the fees across the board. Here's a quick comparison:
| Service | Old Fee | New Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Scanned copy of evaluated answer sheet | ₹700 per subject | ₹100 per subject |
| Verification of marks | ₹500 | ₹100 |
| Re-evaluation of individual questions | ₹100 per question | ₹25 per question |
The board said this step has been taken so that no student misses out on post-result services due to financial constraints.

What Are the Deadlines?
Students need to act fast. Here's the timeline CBSE has released:
| Activity | Dates |
|---|---|
| Apply for scanned copies of answer sheets | May 19 to May 22, 2026 |
| Verification of issues in answer sheets | May 26 to May 29, 2026 |
| Re-evaluation applications | During the notified period |
All applications must be submitted through the official CBSE portals within the given deadlines.
How Does the Re-Evaluation Process Work?
Since CBSE has digitized all Class 12 answer sheets under the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, the process is now faster. Students first need to apply for scanned copies of their answer sheets. According to officials, these copies can be delivered within just a few hours.
Once students receive them, they can compare their evaluated answers with the official marking schemes available on CBSE's website. If they spot any issues, they can raise observations. A committee of subject experts will then review the flagged answers and give a final decision.
If the marks increase after this review, CBSE will refund the entire re-evaluation fee.
CBSE Launches Helpline for Students
Understanding the stress students and parents face after results, CBSE has set up dedicated support facilities:
- Tele-counselling helpline: 1800-11-8004 (toll-free) — available for exam, result, and evaluation-related guidance
- Email support: resultcbse2026@cbseshiksha.in — for official help with post-result queries
CBSE has also asked schools to spread this information widely so that students and parents don't miss the application windows.
