The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the complete schedule for CLAT 2026 counselling. Candidates who have qualified in the CLAT 2026 UG and PG entrance exams can now apply for the counselling process through the official website.

The registration for CLAT 2026 counselling has started from 6:00 PM on December 17, 2025. The last date to register is December 27, 2025, till 10:00 PM. Candidates must complete their registration and pay the counselling fee within this period.

The Consortium will conduct five rounds of counselling for CLAT 2026 admissions. Here's the detailed schedule for all rounds:

How to Register for CLAT 2026 Counselling?

Follow these simple steps to complete your CLAT 2026 counselling registration:

Step 1: Visit the official CLAT website – consortiumofnlus.ac.in

Step 2: Log in using your registered mobile number and password

Step 3: If you're eligible for counselling, you'll see an "Update NLU Preferences" button

Step 4: Click on the button and enter your NLU choices in order of preference

Step 5: Pay the counselling registration fee

Step 6: Save your preferences and download the confirmation for future reference

Minimum NLU Preferences Required

Candidates must fill a minimum number of NLU preferences during counselling:

You can add more preferences if you want. It's always better to fill more options to increase your chances of seat allotment.

CLAT 2026 Counselling: Freeze and Float Options

During the counselling process, candidates will get two options after seat allotment:

Freeze Option: If you're satisfied with the allotted NLU, choose the Freeze option. This means you won't participate in further counselling rounds.

Float Option: If you want to try for a better NLU in the next round, choose the Float option. You'll keep your current seat while waiting for upgradation.

Candidates must pay the confirmation fee for both options within the given deadline.

CLAT 2026 Counselling Merit List

The Consortium will release merit lists for each counselling round. Here's how it works:

• A total of 5 merit lists will be released for 5 counselling rounds.
• Each merit list will be based on CLAT 2026 scores and available seats.
• Candidates allotted seats must report to the NLU and pay the admission fee.
• Seats vacated in each round will be filled in the next round.

The merit list for each round depends on:

• Number of seats available after the previous round
• Candidates who opted for Float option
• Withdrawals and cancellations

Documents Required for CLAT 2026 Counselling

Candidates should keep the following documents ready for the counselling process:

• CLAT 2026 scorecard
• Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
• Class 12 mark sheet and certificate
• Valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar card/Passport)
• Passport-size photographs
• Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, if applicable)
• PwD certificate (if applicable)
• Domicile certificate (if required by NLU)
• Income certificate (for fee waiver, if applicable)
