The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025, has launched the new GATE 2025 website — gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

GATE 2025 Exam Overview

GATE 2025 will be a computer-based test (CBT) conducted by IISc Bengaluru and seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI).

GATE 2025 Exam Format and Structure

Duration: 3 hours
Total Test Papers: 30 (full papers and sectional papers)
Sections: General Aptitude (GA) and candidate’s selected subjects
Question Types: MCQs, Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions

GATE 2025 Mark Distribution

For most papers (except AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL):

General Aptitude: 15 marks
Engineering Mathematics: 13 marks
Subject Questions: 72 marks
Total: 100 marks

For papers AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL:

General Aptitude: 15 marks
Subject Questions: 85 marks
Total: 100 marks

Negative Marking

1-mark MCQ: 1/3 mark deducted for a wrong answer
2-mark MCQ: 2/3 mark deducted for a wrong answer
MSQ/NAT Questions: No negative marking and no partial marking for MSQ

GATE 2024 Recap

GATE 2024 was held on February 3, 4, 10, and 11. The response sheets were released on February 15, followed by the answer keys and question papers on February 19. The results were announced on March 16.
