The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has officially released the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 examination schedule. As per the notification, GATE 2026 will be conducted over two weekends on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The exam will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

The GATE 2026 admit card release date is likely to be announced this week. Candidates who have registered for the exam are eagerly waiting for the hall ticket. The admit card will be available for download on the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

GATE 2026: Exam Timing & Shifts

The GATE 2026 exam will be held in two sessions each day. Here are the shift timings:

Forenoon Session (FN) 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Afternoon Session (AN) 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

The exam will cover multiple engineering, science, and interdisciplinary papers. Different subjects are scheduled across the four exam days.

GATE 2026: Admit Card

The GATE 2026 admit card is expected to be released this week. Once released, candidates can download the admit card from the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in using their enrollment ID and password.

The admit card will contain the following details:

  • ✅ Candidate's Name
  • ✅ Enrollment ID
  • ✅ Photograph and Signature
  • ✅ Exam Date and Session
  • ✅ Exam Center Name and Address
  • ✅ Reporting Time
  • ✅ Important Instructions

Note: Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof to the exam center.

GATE 2026: Uses of Score

GATE 2026 scores will be used for multiple purposes:

Postgraduate Admissions: Candidates can use GATE scores for admission to MTech, ME, MS, and PhD programmes in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. Many state universities and private colleges also accept GATE scores.

PSU Recruitment: Several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) use GATE scores for recruitment to various engineering positions. Some prominent PSUs include BHEL, GAIL, HPCL, IOCL, NTPC, ONGC, PGCIL, and many others.

Fellowships & Scholarships: Qualified GATE candidates are eligible for MHRD scholarships during their postgraduate studies. The scholarship amount varies based on the programme and institute.
