Registration for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 is starting from 28 August 2025. This application process can be done only on the official portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in. This year IIT Guwahati is conducting the exam.

The last date for registration is 28 September 2025 (without late fee). Later if the candidates apply late, then they can apply with late fee till 9 October 2025.

GATE 2026: Application Fee

The application fee for GATE 2026 exam is fixed differently on the basis of category and gender. Male candidates of General, OBC and EWS category have to pay the prescribed fee, while fee is exempted for SC, ST, PwD and all female candidates. Registration with late fee will attract additional charges.

GATE 2026: Exam Dates and Sessions

According to the notification released by IIT Guwahati, GATE 2026 exam will be conducted on 1, 2, 15 and 16 February 2026. The exam will be held in two shifts – 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates have to decide the time and date according to their branch and subject as per the exam schedule.

GATE 2026 exam will be divided into 8 IIT/IISc zones across India, which will be conducted in around 238 exam cities

Following are each zone and major centers:

Candidates can choose up to three exam cities in the application form, which should be in the same zone; however, the third choice can be from another zone.
