The National Testing Agency (NTA) has removed optional questions from Section B of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025. Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2025 will no longer have the option to choose 5 out of 10 questions in Section B. This change applies to JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/BTech), Paper 2A (BArch), and Paper 2B (BPlanning).

The optional section was initially introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to accommodate challenges but was discontinued in 2024.
NTA's statement explained that after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the end of the public health emergency on May 5, 2023, it was decided to revert to the original format. Section B will now contain only 5 questions per subject, and candidates must answer all questions without any choice. This applies to Paper 1 (BE/BTech), Paper 2A (BArch), and Paper 2B (BPlanning) in JEE Main 2025.
Details on the exam pattern will be available in the Information Bulletin of JEE Main 2025.
The registration process for the JEE Main 2025 application form will begin soon. For more updates, visit the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
