JoSAA Counselling Process 2025 – Step-by-Step Guide
The JoSAA Counselling 2025 process includes registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, and online reporting. Eligible candidates must register at josaa.nic.in using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced credentials. After registration, fill and lock your preferred institutes and courses.
Seats will be allotted based on JEE rank, preferences, and availability. Confirm the seat, upload documents, and pay the admission fee online to complete the process. Make sure to follow the schedule and complete each step before the deadline.
Step 1: JoSAA 2025 Registration
- Visit the official website of JoSAA: https://josaa.nic.in
- JEE Main candidates: Login with your JEE Main registration number and password.

- After login, all your details will be automatically fetched from the JEE database.

Step 2: Choice Filling

- It is mandatory to fill all the choices before the last date of filling the options.
Step 3: Choice Locking
- After filling the form, candidates have to lock their options.
- If not locked before the last date, the options will be automatically locked.
- Once locked, no changes can be made to the options.
Step 4: Seat Allotment
- JoSAA will allocate seats in a total of 5 rounds.
- The allotment process will be based on the candidate's rank, choice and reservation policy.
- Candidates can check the seat allotment result by logging on to the JoSAA portal.
Step 5: Online Reporting & Fee Payment
After getting the seat, to confirm the seat, candidates have to:
- Pay the seat acceptance fee (GEN/OBC: ₹35,000 | SC/ST/PwD: ₹15,000).
- Upload the required documents.
- Get verification done through the online reporting center.
Step 6: Document Verification
In this step, students will be required to get their documents verified as per the schedule. Document verification will be conducted online. Only after the verification of documents, students will be allowed to report to the allocated for final admission.
Step 7: Choose Seat Freezing, Floating or Sliding option
After the seat is allotted, the candidate has to choose one of the three options:
Freeze – Satisfied with the allotted seat.
Float – Reserve the current seat while waiting for a better option.
Slide – Wait for a better branch in the same institute.
Step 8: Further Rounds & Final Reporting
- If a better seat is available in the next round, a new allotment may be done.
- After the last round, the candidate will have to visit the institute for final reporting.
