MHT CET 2026 Admission: Computer Engineering Most Preferred Branch, List of Top Colleges
The number of students who got admission into the BE/ BTech courses in Maharashtra CET admissions 2026 is 1,81,927. In terms of gender-wise distribution, male candidates constitute more than two-thirds of the admissions.
In total, there were 1,14,121 male candidates and 67,806 female candidates.
Looking at branch wise admissions data, it can be seen that Computer Engineering was the highest preference of the students. In total, 28,170 candidates opted for Computer Engineering, making up to 15.48% of the total admissions in the state in BE/BTech category.
Next comes Mechanical Engineering in terms of most preferred branch, which had 19,702 admissions. It is followed by Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with 18,895 admissions.
Fourth position in this race goes to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) with 18,277 admissions, while fifth position is taken by Information Technology which got 15,219 admissions, which makes up 8.37% of total admissions.
Some other highly popular branches include Civil Engineering with 14,213 admissions, Electrical Engineering with 11,726 admissions, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with 10,502 admissions.

SPPU Records Highest Number of BTech Admissions
Among the universities in the state of Maharashtra, SPPU has been the most successful in securing the highest number of admissions to BE/BTech in 2026.
A total of 64,822 students were admitted at SPPU, constituting 35.63% of the total number of admissions to BE/BTech covered in the dataset.
This is followed by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, with 34,385 admissions, accounting for 18.90% of the total admissions.
The next on the list is Mumbai University, with 32,126 admissions, accounting for 17.66% of the total admissions.
Collectively, these universities have registered 1,31,333 admissions, accounting for 72.19%

The admission data shows that technology-focused branches continued to attract a large number of students. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence-related courses remained among the most selected options.
