NEET UG 2026: Check Dress Code, Things to Carry & Banned Items at Test Centre
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NEET UG 2026 exam on May 3 from 2 pm to 5 pm. With over 24 lakh candidates set to appear, the NTA has released strict guidelines on dress code, items to carry, and banned items at the test centre.
Candidates can only bring a few items into the exam hall. This year too, over 24 lakh medical aspirants are expected to appear for NEET UG 2026. Here's everything you need to know before exam day.
NEET UG 2026 Dress Code
The NTA has set a simple dress code to make frisking quick and easy:
- No heavy clothes or full-sleeve outfits
- No shoes — only slippers or sandals with low heels are allowed
- Avoid heavy accessories, jewellery, and metallic items
Candidates wearing items of faith — cultural, customary, or religious — should reach the centre early for proper frisking.
Dress Code for Male Candidates
Male candidates must wear simple and comfortable clothes that match the NTA's security rules. Strict frisking is done at every exam centre to prevent malpractice, so it's smart to avoid anything that could cause delays.
Allowed:
- Light-coloured half-sleeve shirts or T-shirts (no large buttons or embroidery)
- Plain trousers or pants
- Open slippers or sandals with thin soles
Not Allowed:
- Full-sleeve shirts or clothes with heavy designs, big buttons, or pockets
- Shoes, boots, or sneakers
- Any accessories like watches, bracelets, chains, or sunglasses
Dress Code for Female Candidates
Female candidates must also follow the NTA's dress code strictly to make frisking smooth and quick. Stick to simple, light-coloured clothes without any decorations.
Allowed:
- Light-coloured half-sleeve kurtis or tops without big designs
- Salwar or plain pants
- Open slippers or low-heeled sandals
Not Allowed:
- Full-sleeve clothes or outfits with embroidery and lace
- Hairpins, clips, or fancy hair accessories
- Jewellery like earrings, nose rings, necklaces, bangles, rings, or anklets
