NEET UG 2026: NTA Calls Viral OMR Sheets Fake, Warns of Strict Penal Action

NTA dismissed the allegations of errors in NEET UG 2026 test results. It clarified that several OMR sheets which are floating on social media are either fake, digitally modified or created using artificial intelligence.

According to the NTA, it verified each complaint submitted by the candidates. It claims that official OMR data matched with the declared results in each case. No evaluation mistake was found in the process.

This clarification was made following allegations made by the candidates who said that OMR sheet of the students was either false, incomplete or exchanged. There were also complaints about mismatch between the score obtained and the number of attempts done in the examination.

The controversy comes out regarding NEET UG retest conducted on June 21 after the May examination was canceled due to a paper leak. Ever since the results were released, several images and alleged OMR discrepancies have been uploaded on social media.

The NTA warned that forgery of OMR sheet, its submission or dissemination will invite cancellation of result, debarment from future exams and criminal actions based on applicable laws.

The agency also responded to the grievances filed by five candidates. These include Avaneesh Srivastava, Pratibha Trivedi, Abhay Yadav, Lakshya Singh and Arya Singh.

In the case of Lakshya Singh, NTA alleged that extra bubbles were added in the circulated OMR sheet through digital editing. The agency claims that in the case of Arya Singh, there was an attempt to alter the invigilator's signature time.

According to NTA, an authentic OMR sheet has unique identification such as roll number, bar code, QR code, signatures and thumb impression. This is verified with official records.

The issue has also attracted the attention of the politicians as opposition leaders demanded a fair probe into the grievances of the candidates.
