NTA Rejects Unfair Evaluation Claims by 5 NEET Candidates, Issues Case-Wise Clarification

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has dismissed the allegations made against it by five candidates who took NEET-UG 2026 regarding unfair evaluation. NTA released its statement on Monday following complaints by these five candidates regarding inconsistencies in OMR sheets and scorecards.

As per the NTA, several complaints received from the candidates involved fake, edited or artificially created OMR sheets and scorecards. NTA evaluated each complaint separately and provided a response on a candidate-by-candidate basis.

These five candidates referred to in the clarification are Avaneesh Srivastava, Pratibha Trivedi, Abhay Yadav, Lakshya Singh and Arya Singh.

As per NTA, the OMR sheets of these five candidates were correctly evaluated and their marks will not be changed as they stand.

NTA also said that the images of the OMR sheets of these five candidates uploaded online were artificially generated from their actual OMR sheets.

In the case of Lakshya Singh, NTA said that the image uploaded had markings on the OMR sheet which do not exist in the real OMR sheet. In this case, it is alleged that artificial bubbles have been created.

In the case of Arya Singh, NTA gave several examples where OMR sheet was found to be digitally manipulated. According to the NTA, the signature time of one invigilator in the original sheet which was at 3:45 pm had been changed to 2:45 pm.

Why Did the NTA Issue the Clarification?

According to the NTA, it received many representations following the declaration of NEET-UG 2026 results.

While some candidates complained that the OMR sheets uploaded by the NTA against their roll numbers did not belong to them, others stated that their OMR sheets had been switched and had fewer answers attempted as compared to what was actually done in the exam.

Moreover, some candidates sought a second look at their performance after uploading their supposed original OMR sheets.

The agency assured that it reviewed each individual representation individually and determined that the OMR sheet uploaded by the NTA bore the same roll number, booklet number, barcode, candidate details, signature, thumb impression, and invigilator's signature as that of the official OMR sheet.

What Did NEET Aspirant Arya Singh Allege?

Candidate Arya Singh from Kanpur raised concerns about her NEET-UG 2026 results due to certain discrepancies observed in her OMR sheet and scorecard.

According to Arya, her OMR sheet uploaded by NTA on July 13 contains incorrect ordering of questions. She matched her answers with those on the OMR sheet and found that her expected marks could have been 609 marks.

Later on, she filed a complaint using the challenge portal. Arya mentioned that after some time, NTA uploaded a new OMR sheet with correct ordering of the questions; however, no change occurred in the marks she got.

Further, she claims that while checking her result on the result portal on the night of July 16, it showed 540 marks. However, upon refreshing the webpage multiple times, the marks were changed to 167.

NTA portal displays her marks as 167, All India Rank 12,52,036. Arya has stated that the matter may be a technical mistake or error in evaluation.

What Type of Manipulation Did the NTA Identify?

The NTA has claimed that such fake documents could be produced using multiple methods. For instance, the use of AI technology could have been used to reproduce the printed parts of OMR sheets and to make changes to the name, signature, or fingerprints.

In addition to this, there were instances where marks and answers in the scorecards were manipulated but the QR code/barcode remained the same.

According to the NTA, genuine OMR sheets and scorecards have a unique identifier, which can be verified against the records at the NTA and NIC.

What Has the NTA Warned Candidates and Parents?

The NTA has informed applicants and guardians to upload only authentic documents generated from the official website.

It issued the information saying that any forgery of exam documents through fabrication could be construed as an offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

It further stated that legal action can be initiated against the offenders who will have anything to do with forgery of documents. It further stated that no revisions of results would be entertained on forged images.
