CBSE introduces internal exam for Class 10 Maths, English 2020 board exams

CBSE to conduct two-level exams for Class 10 mathematics and English exams in which 20 marks internal exam will be conducted by respective schools and 80 marks will be given to theory. The circular has been sent to schools with proper guidelines and will be implemented from board 2020.

The two level exam will be of 20 marks only and the marks will be awarded in the school-based assessment. If the students want to appear in the board exam then they need to clear this school-based exams first. Those, who do not clear this school-based exam, will not be allowed to appear in the board exam. It is interesting to know that this system was already in use in class 12 exams for some subjects. Now, this system has been extended to class 10 board exams too.

The move to introduce the school-based exam by CSBE is a ‘learner-centric’ move it can well be said that the move is getting popular. In the school-based exam, the theory part of the exams will be of 80 marks which used to be of 100 marks. Now, the schools have to follow it from the next board exam. In this regard, the CBSE board has sent the circular to all the affiliated schools.

Apart from this, the students will have a choice to choose the difficulty level of their Maths exam. The students will have a choice to appear in easier or the difficult level of the Maths exam. Those students, who choose easier version of Maths exam in class 10th board exam, will not be able to take Maths as a major subject in higher studies. The students, who want to study Maths in their higher studies, should not take easier version in the class 10th board exam.
