The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has revised the registration schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. According to the updated schedule, the online application process will now begin on August 27, 2026, instead of August 14.

Applicants would have the facility to apply for the GATE 2027 exam through the official GATE website. The last date for regular registration will be September 27, 2026, whereas the last date for late registration will be October 5, 2026.

Robotics and Automation Added as New Paper

The addition of Robotics and Automation is a new test paper in GATE 2027, and this will be a new choice of subject for the candidates.

DigiLocker will become compulsory for Indian candidates for the application process.

It is recommended that the candidates prepare all the required documents and verify the eligibility criteria and combination of papers before filling out the application form.

The GATE scores can be considered for pursuing post-graduation and research courses like MTech and PhD programs, and also for the recruitment in PSUs. The GATE scores validity period is three years after the result announcement.
