GATE 2027 Registration Deadline Today: Check How to Apply Online

IIT Madras will close the registration window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 today, October 5, 2026. Those who still have not registered themselves should register for the GATE 2027 examination by visiting the GATE 2027 official website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

The GATE score is used to admit students into the postgraduate or doctoral programme in any IIT, IISc and other participating institutes. Also, some of the PSUs use the GATE score to recruit their candidates. Those candidates who want to do M.Tech/PhD programme can apply before the registration ends.

GATE 2027 Registration Deadline and Application Fee

Registration for the 2027 GATE was normally available between August 27 and September 27, 2026. Extension of the registration process was announced from September 28 until today, which is October 5.

Fee for applicants registering during the extension period is as follows:

• Female, SC, ST, and PwD applicants: ₹1,500 per test paper
• All other applicants, including foreign nationals: ₹2,500 per test paper

The fees for registration are payable for every test paper. Applicants can opt for one test paper or one of the allowed two-paper combinations within the same registration form.

How to Apply for GATE 2027?

The steps to be followed by candidates while filling up the GATE 2027 application form include the following:

• Navigate to the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
• Mandatory registration through the DigiLocker must be done by the candidates.
• Filling in all the necessary information related to personal, ID, and academic information must be done by the candidates.
• Selection of GATE test paper and examination centers.
• Uploading of photographs, signatures, and other required documents in the prescribed format must be done by the candidates.
• Payment of the relevant application fees must be done.
• Submission of the application form.
• Downloading of the confirmation page.

GATE 2027 Correction Window and Exam Dates

GATE 2027 application correction facility will be available from 14th October to 21st October, 2026. The candidates registered for the test can make certain modifications to their applications during this time frame.

The GATE 2027 exam will be conducted in several shifts on 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th and 21st February, 2027.

IIT Madras hasn't announced the GATE 2027 admit card release date yet. The hall ticket is expected to be issued in February 2027.

GATE 2027 Introduces New Test Paper

Robots and Automation (RA) will be one of the new test papers for the year GATE 2027. In addition, there has been a change in the code for sectional papers in XE, XH, and XL.

Those candidates who intend to take part in the GATE 2027 exam need to register by October 5, 2026. The GATE 2027 result date will be March 19, 2027.
