GATE 2027 Registration Deadline Extended to October 5; Check New Updates

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has also provided an extension in the last date of GATE 2027 application. Candidates are allowed to apply for GATE 2027 without any late fees up to October 5, 2026.

There is also an extension provided for candidates who are willing to apply for GATE 2027 with a late fee. Candidates have been allowed to apply for GATE 2027 with a late fee up to October 12, 2026.

Candidates may refer to the official website of GATE 2027, gate2027.iitm.ac.in, to find out about the eligibility criteria and papers for which candidates are eligible. Candidates are required to register for GATE 2027 through the DigiLocker account for Indian nationals this year.

What’s New in GATE 2027?

The RA paper will become an additional paper in the coming GATE 2027 exam. After including RA, there will be 30 papers in the exam.

There have been some changes made to the sectional paper code and pattern in XE, XH and XL. There have been revisions made to the syllabus for GATE 2027, and candidates should refer to the syllabus for the paper that they have chosen.

Other than that, there will be mandatory DigiLocker-based registration process for Indian nationals. It is important to keep the DigiLocker ID used during registration process active since the subsequent communication from GATE 2027 will be through that account.

It is important to note that those who are eligible for PwD benefits should upload the necessary documentation in GATE 2027 DigiLocker folder as per FAQ.

Documents Required for GATE 2027 Registration

Candidates preparing to fill out the GATE 2027 application form should keep the following documents ready:

• Recent photograph of the candidate
• Scanned copy of the candidate's signature
• Scanned copy of a valid photo ID
• SC/ST certificate, if applicable
• UDID/PwD certificate, if applicable
• Dyslexia certificate, if applicable
• Relevant annexures or certificates for compensatory time and scribe facility, if applicable

Candidates submitting a photo ID during registration must also carry the original valid ID to the GATE 2027 exam centre on the examination day.
