The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R) will release the results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering on March 19. What are the types of PSUs?
There are three types of jobs in PSUs through GATE 2025 in India, classified on the basis of various parameters such as Indian Stock Exchange, global presence, annual revenue and income generated.
- Maharatna PSUs (BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, SAIL and others)
- Navaratna PSUs (BEL, Oil India Limited, Power Grid and others)
- Mini Ratna PSUs (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, PEC Limited, THDC India Limited and others)
Direct recruitment to Group-A level posts in the central government, including Senior Field Officer (Tele), Senior Research Officer (Crypto) and Senior Research Officer (S&T) in the Cabinet Secretariat, is also done on the basis of valid GATE scores.
GATE scores can also be shared with institutions supported by the Ministry of Education, PSUs and other reputed institutions for admission and recruitment purposes. Also, this year, the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur will admit MTech students through the GATE 2025 exam.
GATE Scores can also be used for Financial Aid
Not just admission to top Indian institutes, GATE scores can also be used to get financial aid for the following:
- If a candidate wishes to pursue a master’s programme or seek admission through the direct process to doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts and humanities.
- For doctoral programmes, as mentioned above, only selected subjects are available, however, the institute chosen by the candidate for the programme must be supported by the Ministry of Education or any other government agency.
- Apart from this, MTech students will get financial aid of Rs 12,400 per month for the master’s course, which is generally paid for 22 months. In case of doctoral programmes, the aid will be Rs 37,000 for two years and Rs 42,000 per month from the third to the fifth year.
PSU Recruitment through GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
GATE Score – GATE 2025 score is mandatory for PSU recruitment, but some PSUs recruit without GATE scores as well.
Educational Qualification – BE/BTech degree with minimum 60% marks is required. Final year students may also be eligible.
Age Limit –
General Category: 21-27 years (up to 33 years in some PSUs)
SC/ST: 21-30 years
Other Criteria – CGPA, physical fitness, and additional qualifications may be required for some posts.
PSU Policies – Age limit and other conditions may vary as per different PSUs.
