IIT BTech CSE Placements: 100% Students Placed, 83% Secure High Salary Packages

IIT Kanpur has issued its placement report for the 2025-26 academic year. As per the report, a total of 32 students got international placements, whereas more than 83% of the students got placed in multinational companies with lucrative salary packages.

There has been a remarkable improvement in the placement performance. Also, the number of companies participating in the placement exercise was higher this year.

As per the placement report by IIT Kanpur, a total of 1,562 students got placement and pre-placement offers. Out of these, 1,295 students got lucrative salary packages.

About 85% of the students belonging to undergraduate programs like BTech, MS, Double Majors and Integrated degree program got placed. Students of Computer Science department performed the best among all other departments with around 100% placements.

Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur stated that the 2025-26 academic session saw some positive trends for placements. Better infrastructure along with higher participation of the industry played an important role in the performance of the students.

IIT Kanpur Receives 638 Internship Offers

The students also excelled in the placement season. IIT Kanpur has been successful in receiving 638 offers for internships, out of which 598 have been accepted by the students.

Approximately 79% of students pursuing MTech, MSc, MBA, MDes, and PhD courses have been offered positions in various companies.

The placement season saw participation from more than 400 companies. These companies have also extended 254 pre-placement offers to the students.

Double Major and MDes Record the Best Placement Performance

When the results of placement were compared for each course, it could be seen that the Double Major program showed the highest success ratio with a placement rate of 97%.

Next came the MDes Program with a placement rate of 94%. Dual Degree Programs had a placement rate of 93%, whereas MSc Programs had a 84% placement rate.

MBA Programs had a placement rate of 81%, whereas the MTech Programs had a low placement rate of 76%.

The placement rate differed across departments. Chemical Engineering and Computer Science recorded the strongest results, while some specialised departments reported comparatively lower placement percentages.

IIT Hyderabad Records 100% Placement in Several Departments

In addition, some specialized departments of IIT Hyderabad have been successful in getting 100 percent placements for the current placement season.

Computer Science and Engineering department maintained its excellent performance. But not only this, but the students enrolled in some other new and technologically advanced courses got a lot of attention from recruiters.

Some of these courses included Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials Science. The eligible candidates from these specialized departments got lucrative offers on the basis of their qualifications.

IIT Hyderabad Highest Package Reaches Rs 90 Lakh

IIT Hyderabad’s placement rate for its BTech courses was 74.56% on an aggregate basis.

Highest package for any BTech course was offered at Rs. 90 lakhs per annum. Average salary package for undergraduate courses was Rs. 22.5 lakhs annually.

As far as the MTech and MSc courses were concerned, the maximum salary package offered was Rs. 58 lakhs per annum.

Placement statistics of IIT Kanpur and IIT Hyderabad indicate that Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, etc., remain very popular among technology courses.
