JEE Main 2027: Can Students Apply Without APAAR ID? Check Official Rules

JEE Main 2027 APAAR ID Requirement: The application for JEE Main 2027 can be done even without having an APAAR ID. Registration of Session 1 began at the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in from October 24, 2026.

The APAAR ID is not a mandatory requirement while filling out the application form. But candidates have to fulfill the criteria of identity verification and eligibility set by the NTA.

Is APAAR ID Mandatory for JEE Main 2027 Registration?

However, having the APAAR ID is not required for JEE Main 2027 registration. Those candidates who do not have APAAR ID will still be able to complete the procedure with the authentication processes approved by NTA.

According to the JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin, MeriPehchaan is the single sign-on platform which is made available for the process of registration. The MeriPehchaan platform combines the use of identity providers like DigiLocker, JanParichay, and e-Pramaan.

For the procedure of eKYC validation, candidates are allowed to use their Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, or APAAR.

What Is APAAR ID?

APAAR is the abbreviation of Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. This refers to a 12-digit student identification number, which has been launched by the government in line with its One Nation, One Student ID policy.

This number will assist the students in accessing their academic records such as mark sheets, certificates, and academic grades.

This student identification number is connected to DigiLocker and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).

How to Apply for JEE Main 2027 Without APAAR ID

Candidates who do not have an APAAR ID can proceed with the following:

• Go to the official site www.jeemain.nta.nic.in
• Click on the Apply Online link for JEE Main 2027 Session 1.
• Log in or authenticate your identity using MeriPehchaan.
• If the form demands APAAR information, use the available guidelines for the candidates who do not possess an APAAR ID.
• Fill all the requisite personal and educational information.
• Upload the prescribed photograph, signature, and other required documents.
• Make the exam fee payment using any one of the available modes.
• Save the confirmation page after payment.

Candidates must not use wrong or someone else’s APAAR ID just to complete their registration process.

How to Generate APAAR ID for Students

Students wishing to get an APAAR ID may find out whether their school has created an APAAR ID for them.

For school students, the usual procedure involves:

• Contacting the school to confirm whether an APAAR ID is available.
• Ensuring that the student's name and other particulars match those of the school and Aadhaar.
• Completing the verification and parent consent procedure, as required.
• The school will authenticate the student's particulars and start generating the ID.
• After the generation process, the APAAR ID will be available in the student's DigiLocker account.

Students can access apaar.education.gov.in for official information about APAAR ID generation.

Documents and Details Required to Generate APAAR ID

Based on the information from the APAAR official portal, the following are needed to create the ID of a student in APAAR:

• Name of the student and his date of birth
• Gender and mobile number
• Aadhaar Number and Name as per Aadhaar card
• Names of mother and father of the student
• PEN
• School details from UDISE+

The name of the student in school records should be the same as Aadhaar record. For the creation of APAAR ID PEN is necessary.

Important Instructions for JEE Main 2027 Candidates

Candidates must understand that obtaining an APAAR ID and applying for JEE Main are two different processes.

• Absence of an APAAR ID doesn’t mean that the candidate will become ineligible for JEE Main 2027.
• It is mandatory to undertake identity verification via the official application portal.
• The personal information must be consistent with the identity and academic documents.
• Having an APAAR ID doesn’t mean that it substitutes for filling out the application form or paying the exam fees.
• Candidates must keep a copy of the confirmation page.
