JEE Exam Scam: Russian Hackers Hired To Crack JEE & GMAT Exam, Six Arrested

The Delhi Police Cyber cell has smashed a gang who were helping JEE and GMAT aspirants to cheat and crack exams. According to the police the gang has hired Russian hackers to give them software with which they can hack the computer system at the exam centers remotely on the exam day. The software was developed so well that it was very hard to detect by the security that was protecting the systems at the exam centers.

The gang made lots of money about Rs 50-60 crore due to this hacking. They took Rs 8-10 lakh from a candidate for JEE exams and Rs 6-8 lakhs for GMAT exams. They have helped about 18 candidates to clear the GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) exam. At this current moment, the CBI is investigating the JEE Exam Scam.

Police said, those 6 accused persons have been arrested and they have been identified as Arshad Dhunna (39), Salman Dhunna (28) and Hemal Shah (42), all residents of Mumbai, Kunal Goel (39), a resident of Delhi, while Mohit Sharma (35) and Raj Teotia (33), both are residents of Karnal, Haryana. There was a reward on Teotia, of Rs one lakh on his arrest from Haryana, and was also wanted by CBI.

While giving the exam the candidates are ordered to download a software Ultraviewer for the remote access with which the hackers were able to access the candidates’ systems and to connect the candidates’ device to the solvers. Police got to know about these through decoy police candidate on the exam day on December 26.
