JEE Main 2027 Age Limit: Can Students Above 25 Years Apply?
JEE Main 2027 Age Limit: Students above 25 years of age can apply for JEE Main 2027, as the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not prescribed any upper or lower age limit for the examination.
However, candidates must meet the Class 12 passing-year requirements. According to the official JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin, only students who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, are eligible.
This means age alone does not determine eligibility for JEE Main 2027.

Can Students Above 25 Years Apply for JEE Main 2027?
Yes. The NTA has clearly stated in Chapter 3, Section 3.1 of the information bulletin that there is no age restriction for appearing in JEE Main 2027.
Candidates who are 25, 26, or 30 years old or older can take the exam provided that they meet other conditions.
Moreover, applicants should consider the criteria of admission to the chosen institution since some colleges may have more conditions.
JEE Main 2027 Class 12 Passing Year Rules
Class 12 passing year is one of the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2027.
| Class 12 Passing Year | JEE Main 2027 Eligibility |
| 2027 (Appearing) | Eligible |
| 2026 | Eligible |
| 2025 | Eligible |
| 2024 | Not Eligible |
| 2023 or Earlier | Not Eligible |
In the case of Class 12, NTA takes into account the year when a student passed Class 12. Improvement exams have no effect on the passing year of a candidate.
For instance, a candidate passed Class 12 in 2024 but improved their score in 2026 will not be eligible to appear in JEE Main 2027.
How Many Attempts Are Allowed in JEE Main 2027?
The JEE Main test takes place twice a year, typically in January and April.
The window for the passing year of the 12th grade includes three successive years of exams. That generally allows for up to six attempts, on the assumption that there are two attempts per year.
But NTA's 2027 bulletin makes no mention of six attempts in one's lifetime separately.
One can take the exam(s) in either one or both sittings, according to one's eligibility.
JEE Main vs JEE Advanced 2027: Are Age Limits Different?
Yes. There is no age limit for JEE Main but age and attempt limit is there in case of JEE Advanced.
As per the official guidelines of JEE Advanced 2026, the candidates should be born on or after October 1, 2001. Five years' age relaxation was given to SC, ST, and PwD category candidates.
Two attempts in two successive years were allowed by JEE Advanced 2026.
JEE Advanced 2027 age criterion will be known from its official 2027 notification only.
