JoSAA 2024: 13,466 BTech Seats Vacant in NITs and IIITs, CSAB Counseling Begins with JEE Main Scores

After the JoSAA counseling for 98 engineering institutes across the country, including NITs and IIITs, 13,466 seats remain vacant. The CSAB will conduct two special rounds of counseling for these vacant seats until August 14, 2024. Registration and choice filling have already begun, with the final date being August 3, 2024. The vacant seats include 5,118 seats in 32 NITs, 2,534 seats in 26 IIITs, and 5,814 seats in 35 GFTIs.

According to the vacant seat matrix released on the CSAB website, 11,769 seats are from the gender-neutral pool, and 1,697 seats are from the female pool. This means that out of the total 13,466 seats in JoSAA counseling, these seats either had no allocation or were withdrawn by candidates.

Who Can Participate

Candidates who did not receive any seat allocation in JoSAA counseling can participate in the CSAB special round counseling. Those who participated in JoSAA counseling, partially paid the admission fee after college allocation in the NIT system, and then withdrew their seats are also eligible for this counseling.

Assistance for CSAB-2024 Counseling

To assist candidates in the CSAB-2024 counseling process, 52 document verification centers (VCs) and help centers (HCs) have been established across the country. Additionally, a helpdesk has been set up at the CSAB headquarters in NITK Surathkal to facilitate the counseling process.
