MHT CET 2026 Option Entry Closes Today: Seat Matrix for Top Govt Colleges

The CAP Round 1 option submission ends today, July 30, by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra for MHT CET 2026. If you have cleared counseling, you must select and confirm the colleges and branches that you wish to choose.

This option submission period commenced on July 28, after the release of the final merit list and category-wise provisional seat matrix.

Check the official seat matrix prior to confirming the options, as this time the number of seats allotted has increased. 380 institutes will participate in this process offering 1,92,180 engineering seats, as compared to 372 institutes and 1,77,985 seats in the previous year. It means an increase of 14,000 seats in total, with Computer Science witnessing the highest increment in seats.

There are three government college courses that are highly sought after by aspirants, and they include VJTI Mumbai, COEP Technological University in Pune, and Government College of Engineering, Amravati. This is what each institution has to offer.

One point regarding the number: On the original table matrix, there is another small figure that is attached to each department. It is the quota block and is definitely TFWS, which is why I have kept it separate in a different column, rather than mixing it up in the original intake column.

COEP Technological University, Pune

CSE at COEP has double the intake of any other branch here, which tells you where the competition sits.

Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Matunga, Mumbai

VJTI keeps every branch at 60 seats, affiliated to Mumbai University. So a low-demand branch like Textile Technology has exactly as many seats as Computer Engineering, and the cutoffs end up miles apart.

All seats here come under Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.

What Happens after you Submit

Allocation under round 1 of CAP takes place on August 2. This is dependent on two factors – your merit rank in MHT CET 2026 and the preference ranking order that you provided. Rank notwithstanding, put the college you would really like to attend at number one because the allocation will not jump to any other option until all higher-ranked colleges exhaust their intake.

Got allocated through round 1? You need to accept the allotment, enroll in the college, and pay fees by August 5. Fail to do that and you will forfeit your allocation.
