MHT CET 2027 Admission Update: Committee to Consider Class 12 Marks for BTech and BPharm Courses

An expert committee has been constituted by the Maharashtra state government to study the need for Class 12 board marks along with the percentile score of MHT CET 2027 for admission to BTech and BPharm programs.

The panel members have been requested to furnish their report on this issue to the state government in the next 15 days.

The expert committee will analyze the possible weightage to be accorded to Class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile score during the preparation of the merit list for admission.

It will make recommendation regarding a desirable ratio between both these factors.

MHT CET is conducted at present by the Maharashtra State CET Cell for admissions in the undergraduate professional degree programs, which includes engineering and pharmacy programs. This process of admission is done in accordance with the CET admission rules.

No final decision has been taken so far regarding the inclusion of the Class 12 marks and weightage in this process.

Will Class 12 Marks Be Considered for MHT CET 2027?

The committee will consider the possibility of inclusion of class 12 marks while making the merit list for admission into BTech and BPharm.

Apart from this, it will also look into the amount of weightage to be assigned to the HSC marks and MHT CET percentile score.

Time-line is another important aspect of any such change as it will require enough time for the candidates to prepare for their class 12 board examination as well as MHT CET.

Hence, candidates who are preparing for MHT CET 2027 cannot take it for granted that class 12 marks will be included in the admission merit list.

MHT CET 2027 Proposed Admission Changes

5-Member Committee Formed by Maharashtra Government

The Government of Maharashtra has constituted a five-member committee comprising senior officials and leaders from educational institutions.

The Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai, who is also the Chairperson of Maharashtra State Academic & Research Council (MahaSARC), has been nominated as the Chairperson of the Committee. The other members of the Committee are as follows:

• Vice Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere
• Vice Chancellor of COEP Technological University, Pune
• Director of Higher Education, Pune
• Director of Technical Education, Mumbai, as Member Secretary

This committee will review the new admission process and make its recommendations to the state government.

What Could Change for MHT CET 2027 Students?

In case the above proposal is accepted, the result of Class 12 can be added as one more criterion to be considered for the admission merit of BTech and BPharm programs.

It will imply that the merit list can be made by taking into consideration the percentile of MHT CET along with the score of Class 12 rather than only considering the existing criteria.

The specific weight or formula to be followed is not finalized as yet.

In the meantime, students must keep preparing for the MHT CET 2027 exam along with their board exams of Class 12.

What Should MHT CET 2027 Aspirants Know?

The suggested amendment is under review at the moment and must not be considered as an admission rule.

The candidates are recommended to wait until the Maharashtra state government or CET Cell comes up with a formal notification about the amendment in the procedure of merit calculation.

After the committee sends its report and the government makes a decision, information about the weight of Class 12 marks and percentile of MHT CET would probably become clear.
