NEET Reservation Criteria 2024 for 15% AIQ
In NEET 2024, 10% of seats will be reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC). Additionally, 15% of seats in government MBBS/BDS colleges are earmarked as All India Quota (AIQ) seats. AIQ seats will be allocated based on NEET-UG reservation standards. The Supreme Court increased reservations to 15% for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST). OBC reservation in NEET was previously implemented only in Central universities and not in state MBBS and BDS colleges' AIQ seats.
For 15% All India Quota Seats, Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCI, PIO, and Foreign Nationals are eligible. To take admission via AIQ, candidates must participate in Online Counselling for NEET conducted by MCC.

NEET 2024 Reservation For OBC
NTA and MCC have released a new OBC quota/reservation. Earlier, the 27% reservation in 15% AIQ seats was only for OBC candidates, but from this year onwards, OBC-NCL candidates will also be included in the OBC reservation.
- New changes in reservation criteria will benefit around 2,700 OBC and 550 EWS candidates.
- During NEET 2024 counseling rounds, OBC-NCL candidates must fill in their category in the NEET application form to avail the reservation.
- Candidates must ensure they have all the required documents for NEET 2024 counseling rounds; otherwise, they won't be eligible for the reservation.
- OBC-NCL candidates can benefit from a 27% reservation while taking admission to MBBS and BDS colleges.
NEET 2024 Reservation For PwD
Students under the PwD category will get a 5% reservation for admission to medical colleges. Candidates must fulfill the rules or conditions set by the authority to avail of the reservation benefits.
- Minimum degree of disability should be 40% or more to avail of the PwD quota.
- The degree of disability should be assessed as per government guidelines.
- Must hold a “Certificate of Disability”.
- Disability certificates should be issued by one of the 14 designated centers by NTA.
NEET 2024 Reservation for EWS
In 2019, the Department of Health and Family Welfare implemented an EWS quota for NEET-UG admissions. 10% of the seats in government medical colleges are reserved for applicants from low-income families. Candidates need an EWS certificate to apply. The following criteria define the EWS category in NEET reservations:
- The family’s annual income cannot exceed ₹8,00,000.
- Families cannot own five acres or more of agricultural land.
- Families cannot have residential apartments larger than 1000 square feet.
- Families cannot have residential plots in notified municipalities measuring 100 square yards or more.
- Families cannot have residential plots in other locations measuring 200 square yards or larger.
NEET Reservation 2024 Documents Required
Candidates claiming seat reservations under various reserved categories must produce the relevant documents stipulated by NTA. Without these, they may be disqualified from counseling and the seat allotment process.

NEET Reservation 2024 For 85% State Quota Seats
- A Merit List will be released, and 85% of the seats are filled through state counseling conducted separately by each state/Union Territory.

Reservation Criteria of NEET 2024- Deemed/Central Universities & ESIC Colleges
