NEET UG 2024 Results: 67 Students Secure Rank 1, Cut-off Marks Rise

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the NEET UG 2024 results. This year, the cut-off for general category candidates increased to 720-164 from 720-137 last year. A record 67 students share the All India Rank 1, each scoring a 99.997129 percentile.
Although 67 students achieved the top rank, there were only 48 open-category seats available at AIIMS New Delhi in 2023. The institute had a total of 132 seats: 3 for open-PWD, 11 for General-EWS, 32 for OBC, 18 for SC, 9 for ST, and 1 each for SC-PwD and Gen-EWS PwD. Additionally, 2 seats were reserved for OBC-PwD.

For SC, ST, and OBC candidates, the NEET UG 2024 cut-off has increased to 163-129 from 136-107 last year. For SC, ST, and OBC-PH candidates, the cut-off rose from 120-107 to 145-129 this year.
The NEET cut-off for MBBS and BDS for general category medical aspirants is at the 50th percentile, while for OBC, SC, and ST candidates, it is at the 40th percentile. The NTA determines the NEET UG percentile based on the highest marks scored in the all-India common merit list.

This year, 24,06,079 students registered for the medical entrance test, with 23,33,297 appearing for the exam. A total of 13,16,268 students qualified, including 5,47,036 male, 7,69,222 female, and 10 transgender students. NEET UG 2024 registrations saw a 16.85% increase from last year’s 20.59 lakh applicants.
In state-wise performance, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of qualified candidates (1,65,047), followed by Maharashtra (1,42,665), Rajasthan (1,21,240), and Tamil Nadu (89,426).
The NTA provided All India Ranks to candidates, and admitting authorities will use these ranks to create merit lists for MBBS or BDS seats. When applying to state colleges, candidates will declare their category according to the state category list, and state counselling authorities will create their merit lists accordingly.
