CISCE Launches Student Initiative to Shape Mental Health Guidelines; Details Here
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will conduct a three-level national programme on student mental health and well-being. This programme will include about 16 lakh students from Class VI to XII, 32,000 teachers, and more than 3,300 CISCE affiliated schools.
CISCE Student Mental Health and Well-Being Conclave 2026 will begin with school level discussions in October and conclude with a National Conclave at Hyderabad between November 20 to 22. The programme will also be coinciding with World Mental Health Day on October 10.

CISCE Student Mental Health and Well-Being Conclave 2026 will begin with school level discussions in October and conclude with a National Conclave at Hyderabad between November 20 to 22. The programme will also be coinciding with World Mental Health Day on October 10.
CISCE Mental Health Initiative: School-Level Discussions
The first stage, called the School-Level Mental Health and Well-Being Dialogues, will be held from October 4 to 31 across CISCE-affiliated schools.
Students from Classes VI to XII will take part in weekly classroom discussions on 4 areas:
- Student stress and academic pressure
- Emotional well-being, digital life and positive relationships
- Drugs, substance abuse and healthy choices
- Resilience and help-seeking behaviour
- The discussions will collect students' views and experiences related to mental health. Schools will also use these discussions to look at student listening systems, peer support and access to appropriate help.

CISCE Regional Student Mental Health Conclaves
Regional Student Mental Health & Well-Being Conclaves would form a part of the second phase. These virtual conclaves would be conducted in 18 different regions between November 4th to 14th.
These conclaves would have student representatives and teacher mentors taking part in them. Issues that were raised in school-level discussions would be deliberated upon in regional conclaves.
After this step, student representatives and teacher mentors would be selected to participate in national conclave.
CISCE National Mental Health Conclave 2026
The final round will take place at the CISCE Centre of Excellence, Hyderabad from November 20 to 22.
The national conclave will comprise 72 students from 18 regions, 18 mentor teachers, mental health experts, policy experts, CISCE officials and partner organizations.
One of the outcomes of the national conclave will be the CISCE Student Mental Health Charter. This charter will have guiding principles, rights, responsibilities and recommendations to make schools emotionally healthy places.
Other Outcomes of CISCE Mental Health Initiative
The program will also aim at developing an index of student well-being. The CISCE will develop a compilation of practices followed by schools along with preparing a White Paper on Mental Health Issues emerging among adolescents.
The CISCE has also stated that it may consider making the Student Mental Health Conclave a biennial event around the World Mental Health Day.
The 2026 program will bring out the issues related to students discussed in the classroom forums into the region and national forums.
