How Is the Final Answer Key Related to the JEE Main 2026 Result?
The NTA JEE Main final answer key plays a crucial role in result preparation. NTA uses the final key to calculate each candidate's raw marks based on the +4/-1 marking scheme of the exam.
The final answer key is the binding document used for preparing the JEE Main percentile scores. Unlike the provisional answer key, the final key isn't open to any challenges. This makes it extremely important for both candidates and NTA's result calculation process.
How to Calculate Your Score Using the Final Answer Key
Candidates can estimate their raw score by matching the final answer key with their response sheet. Here's the marking scheme:
| Condition | Marks |
|---|---|
| Correct answer | +4 |
| Incorrect answer | -1 |
| Unattempted question | 0 |
| Dropped question (in your shift) | +4 (Bonus) |
NTA will convert the raw scores into percentile scores. Only percentile scores will appear on the final result scorecard.
What Are the JEE Main 2026 Expected Qualifying Marks?
There's no fixed passing mark for JEE Main 2026. However, NTA announces a category-wise cut-off for JEE Advanced eligibility. Here are the expected JEE Main 2026 cut-off scores:
| Category | Expected Cut-Off 2026 |
|---|---|

| SC | 61.3526948 |
| ST | 48.2456783 |

These are expected cut-offs based on previous year trends. The official cut-off will be released by NTA after the conclusion of the JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam in April.
