JEE Mains Registration 2026: Starts Soon – Date, Steps to Apply and Important Updates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon begin the application process for JEE Main 2026. It has not yet begun the registration process for JEE Main 2025.
Once the process begins, candidates will be able to apply on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
It is worth noting that the registration process will begin in October 2025, although the dates have not been announced.
The JEE Mains 2026 exams will be conducted in two sessions – the first in January 2026 and the second in April 2026.
Each session is expected to have two shifts: the first shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Candidates can choose the shift based on their convenience and preparation.

JEE Mains 2026 Registration Start Date
- The application process is expected to begin in October 2025.
- Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updates.
- The first session exam will be held in January 2026 and the second session exam will be held in April 2026.
JEE Mains Exam Structure 2026
The JEE Mains exam will have two papers. Paper 1 will be conducted for B.E./B.Tech programs and will be valid for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions.
This paper also determines eligibility for JEE Advanced. Paper 2 will be conducted for B.Arch and B.Planning courses. Both papers will be online and multiple-choice based.
The JEE Mains exam will consist of two papers:
Paper 1:
- For undergraduate engineering programs (B.E./B.Tech).
- For admission to NITs, IIITs, other CFTIs, and state/central government-recognized institutions.
- It is also the eligibility test for JEE Advanced.
Paper 2:
- For admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
- All papers will be online computer-based and will be objective-type.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Mains 2026
- Candidates must have a 10+2 or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
- Students in the final year of Class 12 or equivalent can also apply.
- Candidates must be in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.
Documents Required for Registration
Have the following documents ready before applying:
- Aadhaar Card
- UDID Card (for Persons with Disabilities)
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size photograph and signature
How to Apply for JEE Mains 2026
- Go to the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- On the home page, click on JEE Main 2026 registration link available
- Enter details to register online.
- Once registration is done, login to the account.
- Fill the application form and make the payment of application fee.
- Click on submit and download the page.
- Keep a printout of the same for further need.
Important Updates
- The official dates for JEE Mains 2026 application and form filling have not yet been announced.
- Candidates are advised to visit the NTA website regularly.
- As the exam will be conducted in two shifts and two sessions, candidates should pay close attention to their preparation and shift selection.
