MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Security Deposit

When filling out the Registration Form in Round 1, you will be required to pay two amounts at once:

The first one being the registration fee which is non-refundable.

The second one being the security deposit which is fully refundable only if the candidate is eligible and the counselling process is complete.

When will MCC forfeit your NEET Security Deposit?

Under MCC rules, you will be disqualified from getting back your security deposit in the following scenarios:

  • If you are allotted a seat under Round 2 or other rounds but don’t join the allotted institution
  • If you join the allotted institution but your admission is canceled as you provided false information in the application process
  • If you fail to submit the original documents as required
  • If your allotted seat is canceled because of ineligibility or providing false information
  • If you are allotted a seat in Stray Vacancy Round but don’t join the institution
  • If you join the allotted institution in Round 3 or later but you try to resign from the institution (resignation is not allowed after joining in Round 3)

This has been explicitly stated by MCC, that if you are allotted a seat in Round 2, Round 3, or Stray Vacancy Round, then you have to join the institution.

Exit with Forfeiture Explained

There is a rule known as "Exit with Forfeiture" that has been incorporated by MCC. If a participant is allotted a seat in Round 2 or any other subsequent round but chooses not to participate, he/she may exit the counseling process. However, his/her security deposit would be forfeited.

Moreover, after being allocated a seat from Round 3 onwards, the participant cannot surrender it under any circumstances.

Government vs. Deemed University Security Deposit Rules

These laws are applicable in all institutions for counselling in MCC: Govt. colleges, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, AMU, BHU, B.Sc. Nursing, and Deemed Universities.

In case you select a Deemed University, then you must read the laws for counselling prior to your registration since here the amount of deposit is INR 2,00,000 and it can be forfeited in case you do not join the institution after seat allotment.

MCC Security Deposit Refund Process

The refund procedure can be initiated only when all the stages of the NEET UG Counselling 2026 have been completed. First, MCC releases an announcement on its official portal stating the end of counselling. Then,

Step Timeline
Financial Custodian initiates refunds Within 15 days of the notification
Full refund process completed Within 30 days of the notification
Amount reflects in your bank account 2 to 15 days after processing, depending on your bank

After the completion of counselling process, MCC automatically generates the list of candidates who are eligible and then sends it to the Financial Custodian for refund process. Once the refund process is completed, MCC publishes the details about the refund on its official website.
