NCERT New Class 9 Social Science Book Released: Check ‘Understanding Society: India and Beyond’ Part 2

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released ‘Understanding Society: India and Beyond, Social Science Textbook for Grade 9, Part 2’. It is part of the new set of textbooks being introduced for Grade 9.

These new Social Science textbooks will be available for purchase starting September 29, 2026. Students, educators and parents can procure the textbooks from NCERT Publication Division, authorised sellers, NCERT website and Amazon.

These new textbooks for Class 9 are being published as part of the process of curriculum revision based on the NCF-SE 2023 and NEP 2020.

NCERT syllabus for Class 9 Science, Mathematics and Social Science forms part of the Secondary Stage, Phase I, Part 2. These new textbooks emphasize learning based on competencies, experience-based learning, interconnection of subjects, cultural foundation, Indian Knowledge Systems, inclusive education and technology-assisted learning.

Where to Buy the New NCERT Class 9 Social Science Book

The textbook is available for sale for students, teachers and parents from September 29 via authorised outlets.

The textbook can also be obtained via the online textbook website of NCERT. It is recommended that students refer to NCERT sources only for the new textbook and the syllabus.

Other New NCERT Class 9 Textbooks

Other textbooks of Class 9 have also been published by NCERT in accordance with the curriculum changes. The new Mathematics book “Ganita Prakash” has been designed for the new curriculum of Mathematics of Class 9.

This new Mathematics textbook has been prepared after consulting mathematicians and experts in the field of Mathematics. NCERT has also organized various workshops and discussions during the development of this textbook.

Edition 2026-27 is now available through NCERT textbooks' resource.
