NEET 2024: MCC to Organize 4 Counselling Rounds for 1 Lakh+ UG Seats - Full Details

The Centre announced on Tuesday that it will take measures to protect the interests of the student community. In the Rajya Sabha, a supplementary question related to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) was raised, and the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, addressed it.

Regarding the allegations of a paper leak, Patel stated, "The Supreme Court’s judgement has already come to us. I assure the member that the government is committed to the best interests of students and will take all necessary actions." She also mentioned that the first round of NEET-UG counselling would begin on August 14.
Patel confirmed, "The first round of counselling will start on August 14, and as per the Supreme Court’s order, there will be four rounds of counselling." She announced that the fourth round of NEET UG 2024 counselling will conclude on October 24. Patel also provided the number of seats available for both UG and PG courses in private and government colleges.
There has been an 88% increase in medical colleges, from 387 before 2014 to 731 currently. Additionally, MBBS seats have increased by 118%, from 51,348 before 2014 to 1,12,112 now, according to government data.
The National Testing Agency declared the NEET-UG result on June 4 and re-revised scorecards on July 26. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) announced the counselling dates through a public notification on July 29.
Registration for eligible candidates will begin in the first week of August. The government stated, "The allotment of seats under NEET-UG is carried out through a transparent online counselling process, ensuring convenience and accessibility for candidates to participate in a hassle-free manner."
