NEET UG Counselling 2026 Latest Update: NMC Changes PwBD Guidelines; Full Details

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Latest Update: NMC Changes PwBD Guidelines; Full Details

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an urgent notice for every qualified PwBD candidate. Students must read the National Medical Commission's (NMC) revised guidelines before the NEET UG 2026 counselling rounds begin. The NMC has released new rules for MBBS admission under the PwBD category this year.

The biggest change is simple. A seat will no longer be allotted only on the basis of the percentage printed on a disability certificate.

The NMC has brought in a function-based assessment system for this year's undergraduate medical admissions. Designated Medical Assessment Boards will physically test whether a candidate can perform the basic tasks a medical college requires.

Only candidates who clear this check and receive the NEET 2026 eligibility certificate will see PwBD options on their counselling portal.

NEET UG Counselling 2026: Mandatory Documents for PwBD Verification

Candidates with a benchmark disability of 40% or more must visit an authorised MCC assessment centre to collect their eligibility certificate.

Here's what you'll need to carry:

Document Details
NEET UG 2026 scorecard Downloaded from the official NTA portal
Permanent UDID card Issued online by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities
Self-certified functional affidavit Signed by the candidate
Disability affidavits As specified in the MCC notice

Keep both original documents and photocopies ready. Missing paperwork can delay your certificate and cost you a counselling round.

MCC Introduces Strict Penalty for Fake Documents

The MCC has warned candidates against document forgery.

If a student submits a fake UDID card or a fake affidavit, the allotted medical seat will be cancelled straight away. The committee has also said criminal action will follow in such cases.

So don't take the risk. One forged paper can end a medical career before it starts.

NEET UG 2026: Rules for 85% State Quota Candidates

Students competing for seats under the 85% state quota can get their assessment done at state assessment boards.

Every state board has to follow the centralised NMC 2026 guidelines during scrutiny. The standard stays the same across states, so a candidate assessed in one state won't face a different rulebook in another.
