NEET UG Counselling 2026 Begins Today: Check Dates, Required Documents and New Rules

The NEET UG 2026 counselling registrations will begin today, i.e., August 5th, at mcc.nic.in. This is managed by the Medical Counselling Committee for the 15 percent All India Quota admissions and admissions to deemed universities, central universities, ESIC, AFMS, AIIMS, JIPMER, and some other institutions.

Registration for Round 1 begins today at the MCC Counselling Portal. If you have cleared NEET UG 2026, then you can register yourself at mcc.nic.in.

Only consult official websites regarding any aspect of counselling. The following is the list of websites and their uses:

mcc.nic.in: Registration, choice-filling, seat allotment, and reporting dates will be available at this website.

neet.nta.nic.in and examinationservices.nic.in: These websites will allow you to get scorecards and other related information about your application form and test.

One last point. In case you want to get a seat via the 85% state quota, then you will have to register yourself through the respective counselling website of your state.

Here are the key dates for Round 1:

What's New this year

MCC has incorporated a few technology-based innovations this year in order to enable candidates to avoid multiple trips to the college. This has primarily been done in the form of single physical reporting.

This means that if you opt for "Freeze" in your seat allotment process, you will make one physical trip to the allotted institute for completing your admission formalities.

If you opt for "Float," you can continue taking part in subsequent rounds till the time when the document verification is completed online. You will be required to make only one physical visit if you continue to hold a seat after the third round.

The other addition that has been made in the admission process is the online seat resignation facility. In case you are eligible to resign from your allotted seat, you can do it directly from the counselling website without visiting the institution.

Some other additions include document verification process, digitalization of NRI admissions, PwBD facilities, enhanced cybersecurity, and grievance redressal system.

Documents Required for NEET UG counselling 2026

Ensure that you have the following documents before registration:

• Score card and admit card for NEET UG 2026
• Certificate of Class 10 (as evidence of date of birth)
• Marks card of Class 12 and passing certificate
• Valid photo identification issued by the government
• Passport-sized photograph
• SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS certificate, if any
• PwBD certificate, if any
• Domicile certificate, if required
• Document regarding NRI Candidature, if you are registering under the NRI category
• And other documents, if any, mentioned in MCC Information Bulletin

What Happens after Registration

After registration, pay the counselling fee and then lock your college and course preferences in the given time frame.

Seats will be allocated to the candidates based on four factors: your NEET UG 2026 rank, reservation quota, choice preferences that you have made, and seat availability.
