CUET UG 2026: DU UG Admission Portal to Open This Week – Check Dates & How to Apply
Delhi University is all geared up to launch its undergraduate admission portal for the academic session 2026-27 by the end of this week. The university aims to kick off its new academic session on July 21. This was confirmed by University authorities shortly after the CUET-UG 2026 results were declared.
Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) is the entrance test conducted for undergraduate admissions to central universities. DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said, "We are currently at the stage where we are ready to launch our Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal."
"Hopefully, we should start our academic session tentatively on July 21. At present, we are just making sure everything in relation to the portal is going smoothly," Gupta added.
Delhi University conducts an undergraduate admission process every year in which lakhs of aspirants participate and compete to grab one of the 71,000 seats for more than 79 undergraduate programmes available in over 70 colleges.
Once the CSAS portal is launched, the candidates have to do the registration and thereafter, put down the names of programmes and colleges of their choice. Then, seat allocation of these candidates will be made in multiple rounds depending upon the CUET score and preferences filled in.
After every round, the candidates accepting their allocated seats will get two options of freezing their admissions or go for upgrade. Upgrade will provide them chance to be considered in higher preferences during the following rounds. The delay in the CUET admission cycle has always faced criticism from many teachers.
In 2025, Delhi University began the class on August 1 as per its schedule. However, many admission and mop-up rounds took place till late September and students got admitted to their respective courses even weeks after commencement of the classes. This year also, a similar situation occurred and session started only on August 29 since CUET-UG results were delayed. In 2024, the mop-up rounds continued until October.
However, Delhi University Vice Chancellor, Yogesh Singh, highlighted the importance of CUET in fixing those problems. He said that this has helped in resolving those issues which arose due to the discrepancies in evaluation procedures followed by the various school boards across the nation.
"Earlier, admissions were done on the basis of the Class 12th marks, and some boards were more liberal compared to others. CUET has helped us fix this problem and provided a common benchmark for all students," he said while speaking to PTI.
Singh requested the students before the admission process that there is no need to panic regarding the admissions. He said that admissions will be carried out on the basis of CUET score and that even after re-evaluation if there is any change in Class 12th marks, then they can update these documents till September 30 and even deadline might be further extended till October.
