CUET UG 2027: Shorter Papers, 4-Subject Limit and New Grouping System Proposed
CUET UG 2027 may see major changes in its exam pattern, including shorter papers, reduced exam duration and a new subject grouping system. These changes are expected to help candidates in completing their CUET UG exam in one day without having to visit several exam centers on different days.
According to the proposal, the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC), and National Testing Agency (NTA) are working together in order to improve the CUET UG test process in such a way that it would remain in harmony with the admission criteria of the participating universities.
In the new format, the duration of CUET UG test papers could be lowered to such an extent that candidates opting for more than one subject could complete their exam in about 180 to 200 minutes.
Moreover, the maximum possible number of subjects is being reduced to four from the present five subjects by the authorities. The exact number of subjects would be decided later on.
CUET UG 2027 May Group Subjects Based on Common Combinations
One such idea would be to have groupings in accordance with popular choices. This would allow the National Testing Agency (NTA) to arrange subjects together in a way that would make it possible for candidates to finish their exams in one go.
For example, candidates interested in Science courses may form a group with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as three of the exams. The fourth exam, in this case, could be General Studies, which the universities may choose to give marks for or not.
The groups can be made according to the eligibility criteria of different universities and courses.
CUET UG 2027: How Could the New Grouping System Help Students?
This system of grouping has the possibility to reduce the days which students have to spend going to examination centers. Additionally, it can help to avoid the need for students to travel to examination centers separately for each day and for each different subject.
For example, a student planning to study Physics Honors in Delhi University can go for those subjects that are relevant to this course rather than going for those examinations which are not necessary for admission.
As per the proposed system, grouping subjects based on university eligibility criteria would help to make the examination schedule easier and help to overcome the problem of traveling for students.
However, these changes are still under discussion. The final pattern of CUET UG 2027 examination would depend upon the discussions between universities, UGC, Ministry of Education, and NTA.
