CUET UG 2027: One Student, One Day Exam Pattern Proposed, Check Major Changes

The Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) is supposed to go through some changes starting from 2027. The Exam Reform Committee has offered a new format aimed at reducing the time and efforts spent by the students to write multiple papers.

One of the main elements of the proposals is the "One Student, One Day" exam format. According to this format, students are supposed to take all selected subjects in a single day, not going to the examination center multiple times.

At the moment, CUET UG papers are held on different dates. Thus, students having multiple subjects may need to visit the examination center multiple times, thus spending much time and money.

According to the new proposal, CUET UG may continue being held on several days; however, each student will have only a single examination day when all selected subjects are to be taken.

This proposal may be especially beneficial for students who have to travel a lot to take different CUET UG papers. However, the final decision will depend on the discussion between the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Exam Reform Committee.

CUET UG 2027 Examination Format Will Likely Reduce Paper Duration

The new CUET UG 2027 examination format may also shorten the duration of each paper. Currently, students are allowed 60 minutes for each paper. According to the new proposal, the duration will likely be reduced to 40-45 minutes.

The number of questions is also expected to be reduced. At the moment, each paper consists of 50 questions; however, the new pattern is likely to contain 35-40 questions.

Thus, according to the new pattern, students will spend less time on each paper, but the number of questions will also be smaller.

CUET UG 2027 May Limit Subject Selection to Four

One of the other proposed changes concerns the maximum number of subjects selected by each candidate. At the moment, students can choose up to five subjects.

According to the proposed CUET UG 2027 pattern, the maximum number of selected subjects can be limited to four.

For example, if each paper takes 40 minutes, then four papers will take 160 minutes (2 hours 40 minutes), while five papers will take 200 minutes (3 hours 20 minutes).

Proposed Changes in CUET UG General Test Format

There are also changes that may happen to CUET UG General Test. At the moment, eligibility for the General Test depends on the university and course. Some programs require its passing, while others don't.

The adoption of the four-subject selection format may result in the uniform introduction of the General Test in all universities. However, the exact regulations are still unclear.

CUET UG Current Examination Pattern: currently, candidates are allowed to choose up to five subjects from the list of 37 possible subjects.

Proposed changes in CUET UG 2027 format are still under discussion. Thus, students should wait for the official notification of NTA about the final examination format.
