CUET UG 2027 Exam Pattern Revised? Check NTA’s Possible Changes in Questions, Timing

CUET UG 2027 Exam Pattern Revised? Check NTA’s Possible Changes in Questions, Timing

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is considering major changes to the CUET UG 2027 exam pattern, according to media reports. These changes would help simplify the entrance exam and would decrease the time that students spend in the examination centers.

Right now, students may need to attend the examination center multiple times since the subjects are separately arranged in different slots. This can increase the travel time and cost of the students.

To resolve this issue, NTA is planning to have a one-day CUET UG examination. According to this plan, students will be able to attend all their subjects on a single day. The period of the CUET UG examination may remain the same at about 12-15 days, however, each student would get only one day slot.

These are just proposals. The final guidelines have yet not been released.

CUET UG 2027 Exam Timing and Question Numbers May Change

These changes will also impact the exam time as well as the number of questions in the CUET UG 2027 exam.

Now, 60 minutes is allotted for every subject paper. With the new pattern in place, the exam time per subject can go down to 40 or 45 minutes.

With a reduction in the time limit, the number of questions might also be lessened from 50 per subject to around 35-40 per subject paper.

CUET UG Exam Pattern Current Pattern Proposed Pattern
Time per subject 60 minutes 40–45 minutes
Questions per subject 50 35–40
Exam arrangement Subjects may be scheduled on different days Single-day slot being considered

These proposed figures haven't been officially finalised yet. Candidates should wait for the official CUET UG 2027 notification before making changes to their preparation strategy.

NTA and UGC Reviewing Number of CUET UG Subjects

The NTA and University Grants Commission (UGC) are also considering the number of subjects one can pick.

Candidates have currently been allowed to choose from five subjects. As per the proposal, this number may go down to four subjects.

In case a candidate chooses four subjects and each paper is of 40 minutes, the time will come down to 160 minutes which is even less than three hours.

The CUET UG 2027 proposals aim to make the examination simpler for the candidates in addition to reducing their travel time to the test centres. But it should be known that these are only proposals and do not constitute the CUET UG 2027 examination pattern yet.
