NEET UG 2024 Counselling Delayed: Postponed Until Further Notice

The NEET-UG 2024 counselling has been delayed, including the all-India quota seat counselling that was supposed to start today. They haven't set a new date yet. Before a big hearing in the Supreme Court about NEET-UG, the Centre and National Testing Agency (NTA) admitted there were problems with cheating and a leaked exam.

They argued against cancelling the exam, saying only a small number of students were affected. They said they want to protect the interests of the 23 lakh students who took the exam honestly. They told the court that the issues with cheating and the leaked paper happened mostly in Patna and Godhra and that the students involved didn't benefit from it.

The NEET UG exam had issues like leaked papers and unfair marking, which caused protests all over India. Because of this, some students had to retake the NEET UG exam, and the NEET PG exam got postponed. To fix worries about scores being too high from 'grace marks,' they did a retest on June 23 for 1,563 students.

Out of those students, 813 chose to do the retest to get scores that showed how well they actually did. But a big part—48% of the affected students—decided to keep their original scores without the 'grace marks.'
