CBSE 10th Result 2026: Failed, Compartment or Late Result? Complete Solution Guide for Every Problem
CBSE declared the Class 10 results for 2026 on April 15, recording an overall pass percentage of 93.70%. While most students are celebrating, some are currently going through a difficult phase.
If you have failed, received a compartment, or your result is not appearing online—this guide is for you. Take a deep breath. Every problem has a solution. Read this carefully.
Problem 1 — You have Failed in one or Two Subjects
Failing in one or two subjects does not mean that your entire year is wasted. CBSE has a clear plan in place for you.
Option 1 — Appear in Phase 2 Exam (Best Option)
This year, CBSE has introduced a two-examination system under the NEP 2026. You can improve your scores in up to 3 subjects by appearing for the second-phase board examination, scheduled to be held in mid-May 2026. This is your best opportunity to pass your subjects without wasting an entire academic year.
| Details | Information |
|---|---|
| Phase 2 Exam Starts | Mid-May 2026 |
| Maximum Subjects Allowed | Up to 3 subjects |
| LOC Submission Window | April 16 – April 20, 2026 |
| LOC with Late Fee | April 21 – April 22, 2026 |
| LOC Submission Process | Through your school only |
Important: Your school must submit the LOC on your behalf. Speak with your school principal immediately. Missing the deadline for LOC submission means being unable to appear for the Phase 2 examination.
Option 2 — Compartment Exam
If you are placed in the compartment category, you will receive another opportunity through the compartment examination scheduled for July 2026. The results of the compartment examination are expected to be released in early August 2026.
Problem 2 — You have Failed in Three or More Subjects
If you have failed in three or more subjects, you are not eligible for the second-phase examination. However, this does not mean that all is lost.
What you can do:
You can appear as a private candidate in the next CBSE Board examination session. This means that you will have to re-register for the examination in the upcoming academic year. This will take an additional year, but many students have made a comeback by performing better through this route. For detailed information regarding the private candidate process, please contact your school or the CBSE Regional Office.
Problem 3 — You're in the Compartment Category
Getting a compartment isn't everything. It simply means that you have to pass one more subject. Here is your roadmap —
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Check which subject has compartment |
| Step 2 | Ask your school to submit LOC for compartment |
| Step 3 | LOC window: April 16 – April 22, 2026 |
| Step 4 | Prepare well for the compartment exam |
| Step 5 | Appear for compartment exam in July 2026 |
| Step 6 | Results expected in early August 2026 |
If you pass the compartment examination, you will be treated as a regular pass student. The college admission process may commence after the results of the compartment examination are declared.
Problem 4 — You are not Happy with your Grades
You have passed, but your marks are lower than expected. Do not simply accept this—you have options.
Option 1 — Appear in Phase 2 Exam to Improve Marks
If you desire better marks, you may appear for the Phase 2 Board Examination—scheduled for May 2026—in up to three subjects. Only the best scores obtained across both Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be considered as your final result. If you are aiming to meet the cutoff criteria for a specific college, this is a prudent step.
Option 2 — Apply for Re-evaluation or Verification
If you feel that your answer sheet was not evaluated correctly, you may apply for the same—
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Verification of Marks | ₹500 per subject |
| Photocopy of Answer Sheet | ₹700 per subject |
| Re-evaluation | ₹100 per question |
Note: The re-evaluation window will open only after the Phase 2 exam. Keep checking cbse.gov.in for the exact dates.
Problem 5 — Your Result Is Not Showing Online
This is one of the most common problems on the day results are declared. If your result is not loading, do not panic.
| Possible Reason | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Heavy server traffic | Wait and try again after 30 minutes |
| Wrong credentials entered | Double-check your roll number and date of birth |
| Browser issue | Switch to a different browser or device |
| Website down | Try alternative websites listed below |

Problem 6 — Your Name or Details Are Wrong on the Marksheet
If you notice any errors in your name, date of birth, or other personal details on your marksheet, take immediate action.
What to do:
Immediately contact your school principal and report the discrepancy. The school will send a request for correction to the CBSE on your behalf. Do not wait—corrections take time, and you will need an accurate marksheet for college admissions.
Problem 7 — You Couldn't Appear for the Exam at All
If, for any genuine reason, you were unable to appear for the first-phase examination, you may still apply for the second-phase examination. Students who were absent from the first-phase examination are also eligible to apply for the second-phase examination, provided that their school submits the application form (LOC) within the stipulated time limit.
