The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) if there is a time limit for raising grievances regarding OMR sheets for NEET-UG 2024 candidates.
A bench of Justices Manoj Misra and S V N Bhatti issued this notice in response to a plea from Xylem Learning Private Limited and some NEET candidates.
Senior advocate R Basant, representing the petitioners, stated that several students had not yet received their OMR sheets and that some OMR sheet calculations were inconsistent with the answer key.
The bench questioned how a coaching institution could file a petition under Article 32, asking how their rights were violated.
Justice Bhatti remarked that coaching centres have a limited role and should not be involved in such matters beyond their service provision.
NTA's advocate, Vardhman Kaushik, stated that OMR sheets had already been provided to the candidates.
The bench inquired if there was a time limit for approaching the authorities regarding OMR sheet grievances.
Justice Misra noted that normally there is a time limit in such matters when OMR sheets are uploaded and grievances arise.
The NTA counsel requested more time to confirm the exact position and sought to list the petition along with pending matters.
The court tagged the petition with other pending NEET-related cases and scheduled it for hearing on July 8.
