During this, the Center told the apex court that the decision of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to give grace marks to 1,563 candidates of NEET-UG 2024 has been withdrawn. Such candidates will be given the option to take the exam again on June 23. Its results will come on June 30. Grace marks will remain applicable if the exam is not taken. The big thing is that the Supreme Court has refused to stay the counseling to be held on July 6.

Further, Re-examination is valid only for the following cases:

The scorecards of all the 1,563 affected candidates issued on June 4, 2024 will be cancelled and withdrawn. The affected candidates will receive their actual marks through their registered email IDs without any compensation. A re-examination will be conducted for these 1,563 candidates.

The results of candidates who do not wish to appear for the re-examination will be declared on the basis of actual marks obtained in the examination of May 5, 2024, without any compensation. For candidates who opt for re-examination, their fresh marks will be considered and the marks of the examination of May 5, 2024 will be ignored.

According to the Indian Express report, the four-member committee headed by the former UPSC chairman has in its first few meetings discussed offering all 1,563 candidates to either take the exam again or accept the “non-normalised score” that these students had secured before the grace marks were added. It is also important to note that the government has not revealed the structure.

On June 4, the agency released the NEET UG 2024 results, raising concerns over the marking scheme. A fresh writ petition filed by a group of students in the Supreme Court raised doubts over the sanctity of the exam in view of the paper leak allegations and urged the court to cancel it and direct the NTA to conduct it again.
