The National Testing Agency, NTA has released a notification regarding the re-examination to be held on June 23, 2024 for 1,563 students, the results of which are expected by June 30, 2024. The NEET re-exam will be conducted only for those candidates who were awarded "compensatory marks".

NEET Re-Exam Admit Card
The admit cards will be released by NTA soon after the declaration. The updated scorecards will be made available on the website after the re-exam.
Amid the ongoing controversy over the NEET exam, the Supreme Court once again heard the case on Thursday.
During this, the Center told the apex court that the decision of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to give grace marks to 1,563 candidates of NEET-UG 2024 has been withdrawn. Such candidates will be given the option to take the exam again on June 23. Its results will come on June 30. Grace marks will remain applicable if the exam is not taken. The big thing is that the Supreme Court has refused to stay the counseling to be held on July 6.

Further, Re-examination is valid only for the following cases:
The scorecards of all the 1,563 affected candidates issued on June 4, 2024 will be cancelled and withdrawn. The affected candidates will receive their actual marks through their registered email IDs without any compensation. A re-examination will be conducted for these 1,563 candidates.
The results of candidates who do not wish to appear for the re-examination will be declared on the basis of actual marks obtained in the examination of May 5, 2024, without any compensation. For candidates who opt for re-examination, their fresh marks will be considered and the marks of the examination of May 5, 2024 will be ignored.

The decision comes after a huge uproar over a large number of NEET UG 2024 candidates performing well in the entrance exam - 67 secured a perfect score of 720/720. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is hearing petitions seeking cancellation of the NEET UG 2024 exam today. These petitions were filed after the declaration of results and challenged the grace marks given to over 1500 students for the loss of exam time.

According to the Indian Express report, the four-member committee headed by the former UPSC chairman has in its first few meetings discussed offering all 1,563 candidates to either take the exam again or accept the “non-normalised score” that these students had secured before the grace marks were added. It is also important to note that the government has not revealed the structure.
On June 4, the agency released the NEET UG 2024 results, raising concerns over the marking scheme. A fresh writ petition filed by a group of students in the Supreme Court raised doubts over the sanctity of the exam in view of the paper leak allegations and urged the court to cancel it and direct the NTA to conduct it again.
