The Supreme Court on Thursday instructed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to publish the center-wise results of this year’s NEET-UG exam on their website by Saturday noon, ensuring the identity of candidates is masked.
"We direct the NTA to publish the marks obtained by students in the NEET-UG 2024 exam while ensuring that the students' identities are masked. The results should be declared for each center separately," stated a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud.

The court was addressing petitions both supporting and opposing demands for a retest of the NEET-UG 2024 exams due to allegations of question paper leaks and other irregularities.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, acknowledged that while the results can be published, doing so center-wise presents challenges. "There are coaching centers, and several problems," Mehta told the bench, which also included Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.

He requested the bench to delay the center-wide publication, but the court disagreed. "No…let it be done. We have to see the end of the matter by Monday," the CJI responded, scheduling the next hearing for July 22.
CJI Chandrachud explained the detailed inquiry, citing leaks at least in Patna and Hazaribagh. "The question we now want to consider is whether this was confined to only these two centers, in which case there is no need for a retest, or if it was more widespread. The students face a disadvantage because they lack the data necessary to prove this," he added.
Responding to the Solicitor General's concern about coaching centers, CJI Chandrachud said, "We want the identity of students to be masked to prevent them from being approached. Let’s see the mark pattern center-wise. Even if they fail, we will have the satisfaction of having done our duty. But if the data reveals something new, it will assist us."
