After JEE Advanced, some students get a chance to appear in Spot Round and Mop-Up Round, especially when some seats are left vacant.

Below is how to participate in it:

What are Spot Round and Mop-Up Round?

Spot Round

Even after all the rounds of JEE Advanced and JoSAA counselling are over, seats remain vacant in many NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. To fill these seats, Spot Round is conducted by CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board), which is also called CSAB Special Round. Only those students can participate in it who have cleared JEE Main or Advanced.

Mop-Up Round

Mop-Up Round is usually conducted by the State Counselling Authority (like DTE Maharashtra, MP DTE, REAP Rajasthan) or some private engineering colleges. It is the last chance to fill the remaining seats. This round can be offline or online.

CSAB Special Round after JoSAA Round:

After 6 rounds of JoSAA counseling, CSAB Special Round is conducted for vacant seats.
In this, admission is done for vacant seats of NITs, IIITs, GFTIs.
For this, registration has to be done by going to csab.nic.in.
Online choice filling has to be done by paying the fee.

Mop-Up Round (Private/State Colleges):

IITs do not have a Mop-Up Round.
But some Private Colleges or State Counselling (like MP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra) have a Mop-Up Round.
You have to register by visiting the respective college or state counselling website.

Spot Round & Mop-Up Eligibility:

Those who have cleared JEE Main or JEE Advanced.
Both students who have participated or not participated in JoSAA counseling can apply for CSAB Special Round.
Eligibility for Mop-Up Round is mentioned on the website of the respective state or college.

JoSSA 2025 Spot Round & Mop-Up: How to participate

Step-by-Step Process (CSAB Spot Round):

Visit csab.nic.in and register.
Pay the required fees – ₹37,000 for General/OBC and ₹17,000 for SC/ST.
Do choice filling – Fill the options as per college and branch preference.
Check seat allotment result online.
Report with required documents after getting the seat.

Step-by-Step Mop-Up Round (State Counselling):

Visit the official counselling website of the respective state (e.g. dtemaharashtra.gov.in).
Do registration, fee payment and choice filling.
After document verification, the seat allotment process takes place.
In some states, the Mop-Up round is held offline where you have to report.

JoSSA 2025: Required Documents:

JEE Admit Card (Main/Advanced)
Rank Card
Class 10th and 12th Marksheets
Passport Size Photograph
Identity Proof (Aadhar Card etc.)
Caste/Income Certificate (if applicable)

Important Points:

Seat allotment in Spot Round and Mop-Up Round is purely based on Merit + Choice.
If you do not accept the seat after getting it, the fee is non-refundable.
